Last year for not watching the Super Bowl we made wings. This year for not watching the Super Bowl we made vegan-cheese Welsh rarebit over toast with fried eggs and celeriac-carrot-kale stem remoulade (loosely based on this, actually just all the vegetables we had around tossed with lemon juice, mayo, and Dijon).
The rarebit at first taste — cook bacon fat and flour, stir in beer, mix in Daiya cheese — tasted like a frat house. I was ready to throw it out, but repeated additions of nutritional yeast, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne got rid of the acrid stale beer taste (lol at using bacon and vegan cheese in the same recipe).
